Randy “Da Bones Man” Seppala
Randy Seppala, Da Bones Man, is a rhythm bones musician from Watton, Michigan. Rhythm bones are an ancient and universal musical form going back to the beginning of music. Many cultures use bones in their music including Irish, Italian, French, Egyptian, Finnish, Americana, and more.
Randy has been performing and leading workshops for decades. He first learned to play rhythm bones through a formal apprenticeship with musical legend Johnny Perona of Calumet, sponsored by the Michigan Traditional Arts Apprenticeship Program through Michigan State University Museum in 2001, and a subsequent apprenticeship on his unique spoons playing in 2003.
Randy has played Finnish and Blues music with many different musicians for close to 30 years, and has done countless workshops on bones playing over the past 25 years at festivals, schools, and other venues.
